An Evening With Ron Eaton
27 February 2008
"Ron Easton Displaying Two of His Prints"
After appropriate tributes had been made, the members were treated to a vast and varied display of photographic prints by Ron Eaton from Plymstock. Ron had judged a club competition earlier in the season and this was his opportunity to prove that he practised what he preached. Ron, who is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, admitted he was addicted to taking pictures being accommodated by a very understanding wife.
Prints, in both colour and black and white, comprised dark room material as well as digitally produced work. They were grouped into themes and projects which included people in the landscape, boats, shadows, and panoramic views. Many were taken locally in Devon and Cornwall whilst some were taken on holidays in France and Spain and other parts of the world.
Ron proved the camera could lie, with people and objects being cut and moved for the purpose of achieving artistic harmony in the composition of his pictures. One shepherd had been transported from the Pyrenees to the Andes with practically zero carbon emissions!
