Chairman's Evening
20 February 2008
"The Evening's Presenters"
During the first half of the evening the audience were given a whistle stop tour of churches and cathedrals in the north of England, a brief insight into how the Contemporary Group of the Royal Photographic Society works by a club member who is also a member of this Group and a brief look at a member’s family history which he is chronicling for the benefit of future generations of his family.
After the break there was an interesting trip through the Kiel Canal from on board a cruise ship. Many of the ships seen on this voyage had been into Teignmouth docks and brief histories of the ships were given en route. A ride on the Exeter to Exmouth railway followed, again with an intriguing history of this line and the stations on the way. A rapid walking tour of some of the coastal paths in Devon and Cornwall followed, studying fences and their many shapes and patterns on the way. The conclusion to the evening was an interesting tour of the harbours in the area including, among others, Brixham and Exmouth.
The evening was enjoyed by all who attended and proved how the club meets the needs and interests of a wide range of photographers.
