Practical Studio Evening
17 March 2010
"Model Night"
In the first part of the evening, Mr Monroe made a presentation of his own work with local models. He showed the type of equipment he used, ranging from his camera and different lenses, to lighting arrangements and use of backdrops in a studio setting. His main advice was to focus on the eyes and to communicate at all times with the subject in a friendly manner to provide them with confidence and put them at ease. He went on to describe a recent visit to the London Fashion Show where people paid nearly £100 each to watch some eight minutes of one Designer’s creations. His photographs of the event showed the models as well as attending celebrities and a ‘bear pit’ of photographers.

As already indicated, the second part of the evening involved members participating in a practical studio session. The attached photograph shows a scrum of men lining up their cameras, the lady members having decided to take a back seat on this occasion.
Next Wednesday the Club will hold an in house session when Standard workers will present their work to fellow members at Holcombe Village Hall
