The Audio Visual Evening

This week’s meeting of Dawlish and Teignmouth Camera Club had been planned as an ‘Audio Visual ‘evening. In the event, because Paul Lawson’s Chairman’s evening had to be cancelled due to snow and ice after Christmas, half of the evening was given to a presentation of his images. Many of these had been taken before he joined the Club and most were locally based. He admitted that judges on the camera club circuit might pick holes in some but the audience were very happy with this local output. Paul’s presentation concluded with a short, brisk audio visual featuring the events leading up to and surrounding the Muse concert last summer. This was one of his first in this genre and was a fine representation of this unique occasion.

The second part of the evening was organised by David Renhard who interwove individual audio visual presentations with his illustrated demonstration on how these were produced. This included reference to the software to sort images, the care needed in following a story board and the art of editing sound tracks.

The sequences presented comprised a humorous short based on cartoon characters by Shirley Boulton, and a travelogue on the beauty and history of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico by Terry and Shirley Boulton. Tony Wilson provided a very artistic view of Chatsworth House, whilst Jean King presented a graphic account of the horrors of Bodmin jail. Barbara Todd showed the shivery annual Boxing Day Dip on Teignmouth Beach and David Renhard concluded with a documentary on St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall with expert commentary by his wife, Frances.

Next Wednesday the Club welcomes representatives of Exeter Camera Club to Holcombe Village Hall (7.30pm) when they will display and talk about their work.
