Projected Image Competition.

"Ken, Ernie & Martyn
Dawlish and Teignmouth Camera Club had a projected images competition tonight. The first part of the evening involved projecting digital images via the Club’s laptop with the second part involving projection of traditional slides.

Given the dramatic growth in digital photography, the judge, Martyn Shepherd of Exmouth, expressed pleasant surprise that the Club still had a special section for slides. He is also a fan of slides since it involves more discipline on the part of the photographer to get it right first time. He had to admit however, that because digital photographers could beef up their photographs in the computer, their images had a greater impact and they were better overall, compared to the slides submitted.

In the event, the winners were:

Digital Projected Images:
1st, Ken Holland with ‘Modern Art,’ 2nd Paul Lawson with ‘Snow Patrol,’ 3rd Ken Holland with ‘Alone.’ Ken Holland was also awarded a Commendation for another image whilst Highly Commended awards went to Tony Moll (two awards), Mac Bouchere, and a Commended to Roger Smart.

Traditional Slides:
1st Ernie King for ‘Elusive Leopard.’ He also got 2nd for ‘Beach Huts’ whilst Eddie Crawford was 3rd with ‘Beach Tracks.’ Commendations went to Barbara Todd and Eileen Marsh.

Next week (7.30pm) the Club will meet at Holcombe Village Hall when Paula Graham from Newton Abbot will talk about the evolution of her photography.
