Set Subject Competition 2009
09 December 2009
"Left to right Peter, Tony, Paul, Richard, and Bob."
Once a year however, a set subject is announced and the members then have a year to take pictures featuring that particular theme. This year the subject was ‘Interpretations of Power’ for prints and ‘Transport Networks’ for projected images.
This Wednesday the judge, Marie Minchington from Launceston, admitted it had been a hard subject to judge because some perfectly good images did not, in her view, fit the set subject.
In the event, the undernoted winners were very satisfied with her assessment:
Standard Prints –
1.Bob Clowes, ‘Fighting the Power of the River Dart;’ 2. Joanne Buddle, ‘Sea Power;’ 3. Paul Lawson, ‘Two Horse Race.’ Paul Lawson was also awarded a Highly Commended for another print.
Advanced Monochrome Prints –
1.Tony Wilson, ‘Power One’; 2. Jean King, ‘Power of the Sea;’ 3. Ernie King, ‘Mini Traction Steam Power.’
Advanced Colour Prints –
1.Peter Sillifant, ‘Vulcan with the Reds; 2. Ernie King, ‘Power Jaw;’ 3. Tony Wilson, ‘Steam Power on the West Somerset Railway’. Highly Commended, Ken Bradley.
