Club Reports
An evening with Sheila & John from Exmouth.
02 December 2009
"Images by John Perriam"
The diversity offered by these presentations, which averaged five minutes each, meant that no one was bored by the normal effect of watching some one’s hour long holiday video after dinner! A few short holiday pieces were included depicting the fantastic scenery available in Scotland and Slovenia but most were mini projects depicting how photographs could be used to inform, entertain and amuse.
One amusing piece depicted a depressed Teddy Bear whilst an interpretation of Rudyard Kipling’s ‘My Boy Jack’ brought us the horror of the First Word War. We learnt about the effort involved in photographing wild sea birds on a remote island, the hard work in running around London to catch the right light on well known structures and the art of participating in street photography without breaking any laws or being controversial or offensive. Even apparently boring sequences involving close up views of bits of machinery came to life when set to appropriate music.
The evening concluded with two combined sequences one of which depicted a challenge set up by Exmouth Photo Group. Each club member had been asked to provide two images for inclusion in an audio visual. The photo could be of anything and of any quality. In the event, Sheila and John devised a television news presentation where each image fell into different category of news with an amusing affect.
Next weeK (Wednesday) the Club will meet at 7.30pm at Holcombe Village Hall when Marie Minchington of Cornwall will judge the Set Subjects Competition. This year it is set around Power and Transport.
