Advanced Members Present Their Work.
25 November 2009
"Advanced Members, from L to R, David Frances, Ken, Terry, Mac, Shirley, Ken and Peter."
Shirley and Terry Boulton commenced the evening by showing the prints they had submitted to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain in 2003 with a view to becoming ‘CPAGB’s.
Mac Bouchere was next up and presented ten of his prints with a view to demonstrating his particular style of work. He coupled this with ‘subliminal’ and humorous messages flashed to the audience on the back of his prints.
Ken Holland followed by showing ten of his top prints. Each had been presented in local competitions where many had not been successful. However, since judges often offer a subjective opinion, Ken had persisted in submitting the same work to exhibitions via the Western Counties Photographic Federation and had been successful in obtaining a full range of medals.
After the break Peter Sillifant talked about the benefits of putting work onto the internet. Peter also showed two sets of digital images set to music, one being of garden flowers, the other being of people and aircraft at the Dawlish Carnival Air Show last August.
Ken Bradley then talked about a sequence of projected images. Many comprised ‘table top’ pictures of still life ranging from a pair of old shoes to a set of carefully placed autumn leaves. Other images were taken locally demonstrating that we do not need to travel to capture good pictures.
David and Frances Renhard concluded the evening by how a true audio visual presentation should be made with images and graphics linked to relevant music and edited to blend with sound effects and commentary. He showed a piece entitled from ‘Moor to Shore’ telling the story of the Templer Way.
Next Wednesday, there will be a joint presentation by Sheila Haycox and John Perriam from Exmouth.
