Boulton Challenge & Wilson Rose Bowl 2009
28 October 2009
"Rosemoor & Hold on Tight"
Arthur judged a number of photographic essays where entrants had to tell a story with six prints and up to 150 words. The winning entry was by new member, Tony Moll, who illustrated the story of RHS Rosemoor Gardens Torrington. Second was ‘Autumn Flora’ by Barbara Todd and, third, ‘Mud Glorious Mud’ by Paul Lawson.
Tony judged traditional slides where the photographer had to ‘get it right first time’ without the benefit of post shot alterations using a computer. Tony used a judging system based on the issue of Gold, Silver and Bronze to worthy entrants.
Gold Medals were awarded to Geoff Todd for ‘Hold on Tight’ and to John Thompson for ‘Wasdale.’ John’s entry was also judged the overall winner and he was awarded the Wilson Rose Bowl.
Silver Medals went to Mac Bouchere for ‘Swirling’ and to Jean King for ‘Spring Time’ with Bronze Medals going to Ernie King (‘Resting’), Ken Holland (‘Waterfall’), and David Renhard (‘ Peterhof Palace’).
